Welcome to the Paul Davis Stress Management Seminar! This 2 hour seminar discusses stress on two fronts – general stress and the impact on adjusters as well as their families where attendees will be taught stress management strategies.  The doctor will also cover the causes and effects of traumatic stress.  Following that, the seminar will discuss overall impact on the claims process as well as safety concerns when working with distressed individuals and in hostile environments (CAT) events.

In both of these programs the doctor will discuss:

  • Stress as it relates to everyday life.
  • The impact stress has on overall wellness, safety, performance, productivity, and relationships.
  • List key stress signs and symptoms and their impact on wellness.
  • How stress disrupts communication, negatively impacting the claims process.
  • How mental outlook – Attitude assists in the management of stress and developing a balanced, wellness lifestyle.
  • Action steps to regain control of stress at home, at work and in relationships.

In the Traumatic Stress program will discuss:

  •  Traumatic stress and its impact on adjusters, customers and the claims process.
  •  Strategies for assisting the highly distressed customer, as well as effectively managing the angry individual.
  •  Field safety strategies.
  •  Traumatic stress management strategies during and following a traumatic experience.

Who is “The Doctor”?

Dr. Shelton provides consultation and training to organizations in the development and implementation of the Comprehensive Acute Traumatic Stress Management (CATSM) program. He has been a member of the Emergency Service community for 40 years, serving as a fire fighter and EMS educator. As co-author of the book Comprehensive Acute Traumatic Stress Management, he develops programs in the hospital, corporate, government, mental health, religious and emergency service communities to safely and effectively manage the stress of crisis and catastrophe.
